QUADSCOPE User Guide
The Essentials
Navigating the menus
Pressing any of the following buttons will display a menu:
- MENU BUTTON
- TOP WINDOW BUTTON
- BOTTOM WINDOW BUTTON
When a menu is displayed it can be navigated by rotating the right knob. The highlighted item can be selected by pressing the right knob. Pressing the left knob in a sub-menu will take you back to the parent menu or will close the menu if you are in a top-level menu. The menu can also be closed by pressing any of the buttons.
Channels (Inputs)
Each of the QUADSCOPE inputs (the top row of 3.5mm sockets) is referred to as a channel.
QUADSCOPE will only display channels that are enabled. A channel can be enabled by either:
Plugging a mono patch cable into the corresponding input socket when 'Auto-detect' is active (Auto-detect is active by default)
Manually setting the channel to 'Enabled' via the Menu button
To get started with QUADSCOPE, simply plug (mono) patch cables in to any of the four inputs to see the corresponding waveforms. QUADSCOPE will automatically adjust the layout to stack the channels vertically.
Adjustments you make to the vertical scale (by turning the left knob) will apply to the currently selected channel. The currently selected channel can be changed by pressing the CH SEL button. The channel selection LEDs will indicate which is the currently selected channel.
Please note that you must use mono (TS) patch cables (ie. not stereo) otherwise the channel auto-detection as described above will not work. You can however enable/disable channels manually via the Menu button.
Functions
QUADSCOPE can display one of four functions in each window (see split-screen mode below for a explanation of windows). To change the displayed function - oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, tuner or XY plot - press either the top or bottom window button. Select the function in the menu by turning the right knob. Activate the selected function by pressing the right knob.
The function selected via the top window button will apply to the top window when in split-screen mode or the whole screen when not in split-screen mode.
The function selected via the bottom window button will apply to the bottom window and enable split-screen mode if it is not already enabled.
Split-screen mode
In split-screen mode, the QUADSCOPE display will be split into two separate windows. The top window will show input channels one and two (if enabled). The bottom window will show input channels three and four (if enabled).
In split-screen mode each window can display a different function. For example, you can have an oscilloscope in the top window and tuner(s) in the bottom window.
To enable split-screen mode, press the bottom window button and select a function (via the right knob).
When the screen is split, dual-timebase mode is also activated. This means that the timebase (horizontal scale) of the top and bottom windows can be adjusted separately (see Horizontal Scale for the Oscilloscope function).
There are other settings that can also be set differently for each window. These include trigger level, trigger channel, layout and the on-screen measurements. These are known as 'per-window' settings.
When adjusting a 'per-window' setting, the adjustment will be applied to the selected window. The selected window is the one containing the currently selected channel. The 'window selection LED' for the selected window will be lit. To change the selected window, press the CH SEL button (you may need to press the CH SEL button twice to change the selected window - depending on how many channels are enabled).
Changes to 'per-window' settings in the top window will be preserved when split-screen mode is off. In other words, when split-screen mode is off, you are just seeing the top window - and this window covers the entire screen.
Changes made to 'per-window' settings when split-screen mode is off will be preserved in the top window when split-screen mode is subsequently enabled.
To exit split screen mode, press the bottom window button and select 'Off'.
When split-screen mode is off, all enabled channels are displayed in a single window.
NOTE: Neither of the window indicator LEDS will be lit when split screen mode is off.
Please Note. When in split-screen mode, channels 1 and 2 are displayed in the top window and channels 3 and 4 are displayed in the bottom window. Channels will only be displayed if enabled.
